Frequently Asked Questions...
Should I say a cars set, cars set or cars' set?
I always say it A cars set... or I planned a kids day out... Or I bought a kids drum set.
is it wrong?
or I HAVE to use an apostrophe: a cars' set!!
How ever I'm not convinced with it.
Or the problem here is in the article "A" ... and I should have wrote it cars set and that's it
Answer:
If you say:
- A car's set
- A kid's day out
- A kid's drum set
It all specifically indicates the possession of something of an individual or single item.
But if you are talking in general, (for more than one, plural) you would say:
- A cars' set
- A kids' day out
- A kids' drum set
Meaning a set for cars in general, or a day out for kids in general, a drum set for kids in general etc.
