How do you make a pair of infrared glasses?

I'd like to create a pair of sleek, inconspicuous infrared glasses at home instead of spending a thousand dollars or more on a pair from some high tech electronic store. I realize that I will probably need to purchase a few things to make something like this; that fact is inevitable. I was also hoping that I could include a camera capable of recording at least one hour at a time, but don't think I won't be appreciative if I can only have the infrared feature.
